Anjanadri Hill and the Monolithic Nandi Statue

Have you heard of Anjanadri Hill and the monolithic Nandi statue? It’s one of the most fascinating and unique sites found in Hampi!

You need to climb 575 well-made but winding steps to reach a small Hanuman temple on the hilltop. You get a panoramic view of Hampi and nearby places. Recommend to do this early in the morning before sun and heat makes the climb difficult. The serene surrounding at the top and view of the place is worth the effort.

Architecture of Anjanadri Hill

The Anjanadri Hill is said to be the birthplace of Lord Hanuman, who is a prominent character from Hindu mythology. One of the most striking features of Anjanadri Hill is its architecture. On top of this hill is the Anjaneya temple, which is dedicated to Lord Hanuman. The temples here are mostly made of stone and feature intricate carvings and sculptures that are a testament to the artistic and engineering skills of the craftsmen who built them.

But one of the true hidden gems of Hampi has to be the monolithic Nandi statue that sits at the base of Anjanadri Hill.  The Nandi statue is carved out of a single block of granite and stands at an impressive 6 meters tall and 12 meters long. Its oversized size gives visitors an awe-inspiring view, which will leave them wanting more! It’s an incredible site that really brings out how much history and culture there is in Hampi, making it incredibly unique!
