Chandra Mahal

Chandra Mahal is a palace located within the City Palace complex in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. The City Palace was built by the Kachwaha Rajput kings of Jaipur, and Chandra Mahal is considered to be the most important building within the palace.

The palace was built in the 18th century by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II and is a stunning example of Rajput architecture.

Chandra Mahal is a seven-story building, with each floor having a distinct name and purpose. The first two floors are now a museum, displaying a collection of royal costumes, weapons, and other artifacts.

The top floors of Chandra Mahal are still used by the current Maharaja of Jaipur, as a private residence. The palace is a fine example of the traditional Mughal-Rajasthani architectural style, with intricate carvings, paintings, and decorations.

One of the most striking features of Chandra Mahal is the beautiful peacock gate, which is made of carved wood and features two peacocks facing each other. The gate leads to the inner courtyard of the palace, which is surrounded by beautiful gardens and fountains.

Visitors to Chandra Mahal can take a guided tour of the museum and learn about the history and culture of Jaipur. The palace is open to the public, but visitors are not allowed to enter the private quarters of the Maharaja.

Chandra Mahal is a must-visit attraction for anyone traveling to Jaipur, offering a glimpse into the rich history and culture of Rajasthan, as well as a chance to see the opulent lifestyle of the royal family.
