Discovering the Untouched Beauty of the Andaman

My journey began with a flight to Port Blair, the capital of the Andaman Islands.

Flying from Mumbai to the Andaman Islands was an experience unlike any other. The flight took us from the bustling city of Mumbai to the remote and beautiful islands of the Andaman.

The flight itself was comfortable and convenient, with several airlines offering daily flights to Port Blair, the capital of the Andaman Islands. The journey took around 3-4 hours, depending on the airline and route, and offered stunning views of the Indian Ocean and the islands below.

As we approached Port Blair, the views from the plane were breathtaking. The clear blue waters, the lush green forests, and the white sandy beaches were a sight to behold. It was hard to believe that we were about to land in such a beautiful place.

Once we landed at the Veer Savarkar International Airport in Port Blair, we were greeted by warm sunshine and a refreshing sea breeze as soon as I stepped off the plane. After checking into my hotel, I started exploring the city. The airport itself was modern and well-equipped, with plenty of facilities for travelers.

History of Andaman

The Andamans are a group of islands located in the Bay of Bengal and are known for their crystal-clear waters, sandy beaches, and lush green forests. The islands have a unique combination of natural beauty, adventure activities, and cultural experiences, making them a must-visit destination.

The Andaman Islands have a long and fascinating history, spanning thousands of years. The islands are believed to have been inhabited by various indigenous tribes for tens of thousands of years, long before the arrival of any external influences.

During the colonial period, the Andaman Islands were first used as a penal colony by the British. The Cellular Jail, which is now a popular tourist attraction, was built in 1896 to house political prisoners who were considered a threat to British colonial rule. The prisoners were subjected to brutal treatment, and many died during their confinement.

The islands were also a battleground during World War II, with the Japanese occupying the islands from 1942 to 1945. The Indian government took control of the Andaman Islands in 1947, after India gained independence from British rule.

Today, the Andaman Islands are a popular tourist destination, known for their natural beauty, adventure activities, and unique cultural experiences. The islands are also home to several indigenous tribes, including the Jarawa’s, who have a fascinating culture and way of life that has been preserved for thousands of years. The Indian government has taken measures to protect the indigenous tribes and their traditional way of life, while also promoting sustainable tourism in the region.
