Exploring the Vijay Vitthal Temple
The Vijay Vitthal Temple was built to honor Lord Vitthal, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, in 1404 CE. Located in the center of the Royal Center and surrounded by an ornamental gateway and several other structures, it is truly a sight to behold. It was also built as a dedication to Lord Vitthala, an incarnation of Vishnu and one of the most celebrated deities in Hinduism. The temple is made of granite stones, and is composed of a sanctum (garbhagriha), a large hall (mandapa), a 100-pillared hall (Maha mandapa). and several smaller shrines.
