We traveled from Jaipur to Jaisalmer and had a lot of fun enjoying everything. We had a great time exploring Jaisalmer and experiencing its unique culture, architecture, and beautiful desert landscape. The Thar Desert in Jaisalmer is the perfect place to explore Rajasthan in a unique way! You can take camel safaris, sand dune bashing, and camping in the desert, and experience the magical beauty of the golden sands.
The Thar Desert offers visitors an opportunity to spot some amazing wildlife. It’s likely you’ll see blackbuck antelopes, chinkara gazelles, and other species native to the area, as well as many migratory birds. Don’t forget to bring your binoculars so you can get a better view of these majestic creatures!
The Thar Desert is also home to unique cultures and populations. Here, you will find local villagers living their traditional lives, speaking their own language and wearing traditional dress. Being in their presence will give you great insight into what life is like in Rajasthan and how it has remained largely unchanged for centuries.
Ancient architecture
The incredible ancient architecture found all over the area—from forts like Jaisalmer Fort (it’s over 800 years old!) to stepwells that date back centuries and still provide essential water sources to local communities today. These monuments are a testament to the region’s rich culture, making it a must-see destination on your journey through Rajasthan.
Jaisalmer is a beautiful city located in the westernmost part of Rajasthan, India. It is often referred to as the “Golden City” because of the golden sandstone used to construct the buildings in the city, which glows in the sunlight and gives the city a mesmerizing golden hue.

Jaisalmer is known for its magnificent forts and palaces, such as the Jaisalmer Fort, also known as the “Sonar kila,” which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The fort is made of yellow sandstone and is a beautiful example of Rajput architecture, with its massive walls, intricate carvings, and beautiful jharokhas. The city is also famous for its havelis, which are grand mansions built by wealthy merchants during the 19th century. The havelis are adorned with beautiful carvings, paintings, and intricate designs, and they provide a glimpse into the opulent lifestyle of the wealthy merchants of Jaisalmer. Jaisalmer is also famous for its desert landscape.

- Bada Bagh :The garden contains several cenotaphs (chhatris) of the members of the royal family, including Maharaja Jai Singh II himself. The chhatris are made of sandstone and have intricate carvings and designs.
- Jaisalmer Fort : The fort is made of yellow sandstone, giving it a golden hue that is particularly striking during sunrise and sunset. Built in the 12th century by Rajput ruler Rawal Jaisal, the fort stands atop a hill and overlooks the surrounding desert landscape.
- Amber Fort: Amber Fort is a magnificent palace complex that was once the home of the Rajput Maharajas. With its intricate carvings, mirror work, and stunning views of the surrounding hills, it’s a true feast for the eyes.
