Raireshwar Pathar : Where Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Took the Oath of Hindavi Swarajya

Welcome to Raireshwar Pathar: A Land of History and Misty Valleys

Have you ever wanted to walk on the very soil where Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj took the historic oath of ‘Hindavi Swarajya’? Raireshwar Pathar is not just a trek; it’s an emotion, a chapter of Maharashtra’s pride, wrapped in the misty winds of the Sahyadris.

Recently, we explored Raireshwar Pathar, capturing its essence through drone shots, fresh monsoon breeze, and stories that echo in the winds across this plateau. If you love history, nature, trekking, and breathtaking views, Raireshwar is the perfect destination to experience Maharashtra’s monsoon beauty.

History of Raireshwar Pathar

Raireshwar, located in the Satara district, is the sacred site where Shivaji Maharaj, at the young age of 16 in 1645, took the oath of establishing Swarajya with his Mavalas. This historic event laid the foundation of the Maratha Empire, making Raireshwar a pilgrimage site for those who revere Shivaji Maharaj.

The Raireshwar Temple, made of stone, stands as a silent witness to that historic oath. The temple was later reconstructed, but it retains its simplicity and spiritual aura, reminding visitors of the courage and vision of Shivaji Maharaj.

If forts and history fascinate you, you may also enjoy exploring Raigad Fort, another iconic place tied to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Our Journey to Raireshwar Pathar

Our day began as we took the route via Wai, passing near Dhom Dam, with the calm waters of Krishna River reflecting the morning light. Crossing Pachwad, the lush greenery and village life kept us company until we reached the base of Raireshwar.

There are two routes to reach Raireshwar Pathar:

  • Via Wai-Pachwad
  • Via Bhor-Kelad

On the way, Kenjalgad Fort appears majestically on one side, adding to the anticipation of the trek.

As we started the trek, the monsoon breeze and foggy paths led us to the top of Raireshwar Pathar, offering spectacular drone views of the surrounding Sahyadris.
